Body Composition Metrics

Body Mass Index (BMI) – A calculation using height and weight that provides an indication of whether an individual is underweight, normal weight, overweight or obese.

Waist-Height Ratio (WHtR) – A calculation using height and waist size that provides an indication of whether an individual is underweight, normal weight, overweight or obese.

Fat Mass – Total body fat as measured by weight.

Body Fat % – Total body fat as a percentage of total body weight.

Visceral Fat – Volume of body fat that surrounds organs in the midsection, a measure highly correlated with cardiovascular and metabolic health risks.

Total Body Water Volume – Total body water as measured by volume in liters or quarts.

Total Body Water Weight – Total body water as measured by weight in kilograms or pounds.

Total Body Water % (TBW) – Total body water as a percentage of total body weight that provides an indication of hydration level.

Intracellular Water (ICW) – Body water present in tissue such as muscles, skin and other organs.

Extracellular Water (ECW) – Body water present in bodily fluids such as blood.

Base Water Intake – Daily recommended water intake based on body weight before exercise. Exercise increases body water intake requirements depending on the duration and intensity of activity.

Fat-Free Mass (FFM) – Total body weight less the weight of body fat.

Fat-Free Mass Index (FFMI) – FFM converted to a scale for easier comparison.

Adjusted Fat-Free Mass Index – FFMI normalized for height to improve comparability of scores.

Dry Lean Mass – FFM less the weight of the body water present in that lean mass.

 

Cardio Metrics

HR Max – Recommended upper limit for heart rate during exercise based on age.

VO2 Max – Maximum rate of oxygen uptake during exercise of increasing intensity, providing a measure of cardiorespiratory fitness.

 

Body Capacity Metrics

Calorie Needs – Total daily calories required to maintain energy balance.

BMR Calories – Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is the daily calories consumed by the body at rest.

Activity Calories – Daily calories consumed by the body from exercise and non-exercise activity.

Immune Support Score – Indicates the extent to which an individual is supporting or diminishing their natural immunity through fitness and weight management.
